I am delighted to be selected to participate in this artist in residence program from mid of Jul to Oct end 2016.
I will have a kick-off exhibition “The Art of Impermanence” from 30/07 to 01/08 2016 in 3331 Arts Chiyoda exhibition gallery. This exhibition will feature part of my artworks I created in my MFA program (2015-16) namely 1) Poetic Landscape (Mixed media paintings), 2) Narcissus Love (installation), 3) Zen and Sand and 4) Hidden Memory (wire sculpture). After this exhibition, during my stay of residence, I will make a series of new work and prepare my second solo exhibition from 18-23 Oct 2016.
“AIR 3331” is an AIR (Artist in Residence) program established by 3331 Arts Chiyoda – an artist-run center based in a repurposed school, whose former classrooms house 4 floors of exhibition space, independent galleries, workshop facilities and more. With various programs and a diverse influx of visitors to connect with, 3331 Arts Chiyoda is well situated as a base for creative practitioners from around the world.
Providing an intensive period of stay and production, the AIR 3331 program has been host to artists, curators and researchers who act as “magnets”, interlinking their respective localities through art. The program aims to facilitate discovery and the mutual exchange of diverse values at a local level, inspired by the unique culture, history and stories of the immediate community. The program maintains flexibility in accommodating participants from Japan and overseas who work in a diverse range of genres, including visual and media art, design, performing arts, music and architecture.
